The first wife was the mother of my grandfather, Ernst Heinrich Baumgaertel. I believe that she died in about 1895, probably in Frankenberg. |

I also know that there are records in Frankenberg at the Lutheran church of St. Aegidien. I have a birth date for Carl Louis
as December 27, 1851 in Baerenwalde, Zwickau, Saxony, Germany, but I have no records to prove this. |
| Goal of research: | I would like to know the following:
the birth date and birth place of Carl Louis Baumgaertel.
The names and wedding dates of his 2 wives. My grandfather\'s mother was the first wife, and she died in about 1895 in Frankenberg.
I also want the names, birth dates and places of Carl\'s parents. ( I think his father was Frederick Louis Baumgaertel. I would also like to know about their military service. |
| Branch of service, rank, and years served in the military for any family members: | My mother stated in her autobiography that Frederick Louis Baumgaertel was a linen weaver and fought in the Napoleonic War of 1812-1813. She also stated that Carl Louis Baumgaertel fought in the Franco-Prussian War of 1866-1870. I would be interested in any military records that prove this. |
| Additional Notes: | Ernst Heinrich Baumgaertel attended the University of Kiel in Germany before he immigrated to the USA.
