| Description: | Looking for birth/marriage/death records (or other official records of: "Lawrence Bourn(e)"and wife, Mary Reed/Read,of Seekonk MA (USA)area. Notes i have of Lawrence so far: - possible member of the Unitarian or Congregational church - wife's name was Mary Reed/Read (descendant of early settlers of CT, according to 1908 article of their son's 60th wedding anniversary) - Lawrence's possible birth date range: 1765-1800 - Lawrence's son, James L. (see below) was born in Seekonk area. Not sure if Lawrence is from this area, or was from the Cape (Sandwich MA area), and moved to the Seekonk/Rehoboth area prior to James L's birth - a trail i had been searching for over 10 years was that Lawrence might have been one of Captain Stephen Bourn's (b.1752 Attleboro MA- d.1814 Attleboro MA; married to Mary Dryer, then Susannah Ormsbee) 21 children, but went by "Lawrence" instead of the given name (James? Eli?) - i have a letter indicating that James L. might have been bound out to an "Eben Bishop" (a reed maker). did Eben know Larwence (James' father), or did they live near each other in the Ma/RI area? - Lawrence's wife, Mary Reed's mother's name possibly Mary Wilmarth- died approx 1833?) - spelling variations of Bourne around the 1750-1850's: Bourne, Bourn, Burn - Descendant list, from "Lawrence", to my grandfather: --"Lawrence" (cannot trace) --"Lawrence's" son, James Lawrence Bourne (b.1817 Seekonk MA- d.1908 Mansfield MA; m.Lydia Norris Cook 1840 in W. Sandwich MA) --James Lawrence's son, James Franklin Bourne (b.1848 Dedham MA- d.1916 Boston MA; married to Abbie Anna Blaney) --James Franklin's son, Alva Chandler Bourne (b. 1877 Boston MA- d.1962 Ayer MA; married to Margaret Jane Wentworth) --Alva Chandler's son, Osgood Wentworth Bourne (b. 1905 Everett MA- d. 1994 Ayer MA; married to Winifred Joan Daley) Other notes: - Records might be on the Rhode Island side, since, Seekonk, Rehoboth, Attleboro, Swansea, E Providence, and Providence town lines moved mcuh around the early-mid 1800's - My goal is to extend my information up the Bourne surname beyond James Lawrence Bourne. If his father (Lawrence?)is a son of Stephen Bourne, i then can track back all the way to England. This missing link, as i call it, has been eluding my research for over 10 years. I might have had tunnel vision for the last 10 years, though,and believe that this "Lawrence" is a son of Stephen. I have several letters between gr-gr uncles, inferring however, that Lawrence is a son of Stephen. Just no proof of existence. Would like to find headstone/cemetery as well. |
